Back Story: “In NZ Mary is said to be the daughter of Henry the and Catherine of Aragan.  She is said to have bathed in children’s blood to keep herself young.  One day she was killed by a child’s father, the father was decapitated and Mary earned the name Bloody Mary and was buried at the top of a hill where no one should ever go or they’ll be cursed.”

Ritual: “There are two things my friends and i did.

1. Stand in a dark room with six friends and a small black mirror.  Get one friend to gaze into the mirror and have another count when he/she says Bloody Mary to make sure they say it thirteen or sixteen times.  Thirteen seems to be most popular.  If the person who is gazing in the mirror he/she should scream, flick on the light, one friend must dive under the covers, another must run out the door and the mirror must be dropped on the ground but never broken.  Then eat four lollies, strawberry fruit bursts, and lie on the couch and wait for 10 minutes.

2. Stand in a bathroom with one person, chant “Bloody Mary, oh so mad, please come and talk of your story so sad.  We won’t hurt you, nor will we mock you, only will we give you a question, that you knew long ago,”
If she appears smile sweeting and open your arms as if you want to hug her.  Don’t let the light be switched on and when waiting don’t make a sound.”

Result: “1. Strange sounds should happen when you wait on the couch.  Have one person hold something heavy and it should float around the room, turning red every few minutes.

2. Mary should smile back at you and also open her arms as if she wanted to hug you then you can ask her two questions.  One must be concerning her death, the other her childhood.  If any are out of subject she will glare, disappear and steal something precious from you and also give you a mark so deep you can see your bones.”

Experience: “I did both.  The first one after my friend (Courtney) looked into the mirror and dropped it i held the tomato sauce can in the living room and Blood Mary picked it up, threw it around and gave it back to me but threw it at my hands.

The second one me and my friend (Nakita) did it and she smiled and pretended to hug us.  I asked her how did she feel before she died and how did Henry the 8th treat you as a child.  She said she felt guilty and scared before her death and she said that Henry treated her like the enemy and that a religious person shouldn’t be with the people who were fighting against the religious people.  She spoke little of her mother and cried a bit.  Nakita a little bit too and Mary smiled at her for caring.  But then a loud thump sounded outside the door and she scowled, glared and disappeared, taking my toothpaste with her.”

Personal Note: This was a good one. Well done. As for the experience… I’m taking it with a big grain of salt. Next time video tape it. :)

Thanks: Thanks To ‘Lily’ from Oamaru, New Zealand for submitting this legend.

Back Story: “There was a girl, not named Mary, something common, Sarah or Jessica, something. Anyway, she lived in a really po- dunk town in Texas. She had TERRIBLE problems at home, her parents beat her, and I think her dad molested her. So one day she comes home pregnant (not her dad’s kid)and her parents find out. They come into her room all sweetie pie-ish, and then out of nowhere they’re all “we know” and they take a dagger and stab the stomach first. She dies and they burned the body and sprinkle it all over the freeway. After the investigation the mom goes to the bathroom and lites a candle(I know gross right?)and drops it. she’s all paranoid and goes Sarah Sarah Sarah!!! or Jessica Jessica Jessica.., something. The house burns and the mom sees Sarah or Jessica in the mirror with a bloody dagger and a baby. Sarah/Jessica says, ” in my human life I have not seen my child, so you shall not see anyone!” she rips out the mom’s eyes and the mom burns in the fire… and they all live happily ever after!”

Ritual: “scream Sarah, Sarah Sarah or Jessica Jessica Jessica all scared with a candle lit and jump up and down. And SHUTTER!”

Result: “After this has been done Bloody Mary appears behind you, but when you turn around no one is there, but in the next few days you die a bloody death, and join Mary in the mirror.”

Experience: “You see a girl with a baby, both smiling with a bloody dagger, covered in blood, you inexplicably get pregnant and the baby comes out grinning(sell the kid!), you are found later with your eyes ripped out and burned but no fire,or you just become insane by the ugly image”

Personal Note: Happily ever after? Sell the kid? HOLY SHIT!

Back Story: “In Ohio, everyone seems to have a slightly different opinion of Bloody Mary. The most common is that she was a woman named Mary Tudor who was hanged for killing several people and drinking their blood. (Often one of the victims was her own child. Interestingly enough, her husband is almost never mentioned.) She is usually described as being in her mid-twenties or thirties, with long, straight, blonde hair, fair skin and immense beauty of a sinister sort.”

Ritual: “The simplest Bloody Mary ritual of all, without a doubt. We in Ohio simply lock the door of a bathroom, or any room with a mounted mirror, really, turn off all the lights, and say “Bloody Mary” three times in a row. And we can’t look away. The number of people in the room doesn’t matter, but it usually isn’t over four or five.”

Result: “Bloody Mary’s face appears in the mirror over the face of the person who says her name. That person will be killed by Bloody Mary unless the lights are turned on before Mary can escape the mirror, or the person can be pulled in.”

Back Story: Anne de Chantraine, (This only gained popularity down here after Atmosfear 3 was released), at 17 years of age, Anne was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. She got highly ticked off over this and seeks revenge from anyone who dares to try this.

Ritual: Taking the family cat with you, darken the bathroom, light a black candle on the window, and chant “Mea Culpa Anne”, meaning I Am Culpable, or I am to blame. You’re taking the blame for the accusations made at her when she was burned alive, three times while looking into the mirror.

Result: 1st chant- Mirror turns black with no reflection showing in it, and then it begins to bleed and the taps start to run with blood.
2nd chant- Entire bathroom becomes engulfed in flames except for where you are standing.
3rd chant- You look straight into the mirror and a face of an evilly grinning, sadistic looking face of a woman surrounded in an eerie glow appears.
Then the mirror bubbles and looks watery as she comes out with claws and teeth bared, ready to attack, and says in an almost screeching voice, “person’s name, I have come to take your soul to my side of this mirror”. You then become the mirror witch unless you remembered to take the cat, because she can’t leave the mirror with the cat present. It keeps
the spirits of the dead in the realm of the dead.

Personal Note: The location is indeterminable. This was well written, which is why it is included in this collection.

Thanks: Thanks To ‘Raven’ from Neath for submitting this legend. Wonderfully written, I might add. (Don’t know where Neath is.)

Florence, Italy

Back Story: During the 17th century, Mary was a sick twisted woman who was known to kill animals and steal cats from the Florence villagers. They say she would eat the animals raw and would torture them. She would do this to all but the cats. Due to this, the villagers though she was a witch and she would use the cats for black magic/witch craft. The villagers of Florence teamed up and decided to kill her. The villagers didn’t kill her right away. They actually tortured her, so she can know what it felt like. After several months of torture, the villagers finally killed her by burning her alive.

Ritual: There are actually two rituals.
First Ritual:

1. Dress up in PURE red.
2. Go into your bedroom light 16 candles .8 red, and 8 black. Put them in order like so: black, red, black, red etc. You must form a circle.
3. Stand in the circle with the lights off of course.
4. Spin around in the circle 13 times and say “bloody Mary” 13 times as you spin.
5. When you’re done turn blow the candles out and go to bed.

Second Ritual:
1. Go into your bedroom or bathroom, and light 6 candles, 3 Black, and 3 Red, in a straight line in front of the mirror. Make sure the black is the one the left, and the red is on the right.
2. Turn off the lights.
3. Hold out your arms as if you are getting ready to jump off a building.
4. Close your eyes, and say, “Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, I wish you to appear upon me, for I have a present for thee.” Then, open your eyes, and just stare deep in the mirror, and try not to blink. Your face should start to change. It doesn’t happen in a second it takes a minute or two.

NOTE: THESE RITUALS SHOULD BE PERFORMED AT 12AM-3AM, OR THEY WILL NOT WORK.

Result: Result for 1st ritual:
You will have a nightmare, and the dream will be Mary’s life. When you wake up, your face or body should be covered in scratches.

Result for 2nd ritual:
The mirror should shatter, and blood will come out of the cracks if you stare long enough without blinking.

Other Submitted Information: “Well I’ve seen number one work, but number two no. I was at my friends house and we both did it. I had a dream and sure enough it was about Mary’s life. In the morning I was covered in scratches. The ones on my arms were somewhat deep. My mom actually though I was cutting my self. My friend was scratched really badly too, but she her scratches were worse because she actually made fun of the whole thing. She literally insulted Mary, but she didn’t know it. WARNING: YOU MUST NEVER EVER SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT MARY. SHE WILL HEAR YOU EVEN IF YOU DONT THINK SHE CAN, BELIEVE  ME SHE CAN HEAR EVERY WORD YOU SAY. ALSO, FOR RITUAL NUMBER ONE, YOU MUST BREAK THE CANDLES AND LIGHT THEM ON FIRE. LET ALL THAT WAX TURN INTO LIQUID AND GET RID OF IT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS SHE WILL HAUNT YOU!!!!!!!”

Personal Note: This was a GREAT submission. It was very well written, and I barely had to do any editing! That’s a beautiful thing!

Thanks: Thanks To ‘Isabel’ from Florence, Italy for submitting this legend. Good to hear from friends on the other side of the pond!
