How Psychic Are You?

A quick look at your hands will tell you a lot.

The American Medical Assoc says . “the human hand is a unique organ, from which an extraordinary amount of clinical information may be gleaned”

Over many years I have read the hands of many well known psychics mediums and sensitives, and very few hands contain more than a couple of these signs.

This is the hand of Australia’s winner of the top psychics award, Alex Fulford which has the following:-

(1) The psychic cross, this is found between the two crossing lines Heart and Head, under the fingers and unite the powers of Head and Heart, or as Carl Jung said, thinking and feeling.
This was said in the middle ages to represent where Jesus had the nails through his hands and gives an intuitive outlook to the personality, if it touches the fate or destiny line which runs up the hand centre it gives an exceptional intuitive side to career decisions.

There is a small half circle under the central or Saturn finger at the top of the destiny line, this means the person feels ” different ” or just cut off from others and it is not really a happy omen.

(2) The curved line from the percussion up to the small finger, this unites the subconscious of the heel of the hand to the Mercury finger giving access from the subconscious arenas into the communicative area of Mercury, being the messenger of the gods this is the power to write or verbalize those thoughts, I have often seen this marking with those who see or feel dead people and this marking is most often seen with spirit mediums.

( 3 ) The forked headline, the lower branch reaches into the subconscious, these people usually like sci-fi and Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings type stuff as they tend not to be too worldly, the spirit interests them more than the physical, in this case the upper branch is slightly heavier showing a rational balanced outlook, but when seen like this always tells of a balanced nature, and is usually seen in Air signs, and Alex is a Libran which is the sign of the scales of balance.

( 4 ) This upward slanting line to the small finger is usually seen as a health line and in the Middle ages the monks who taught these skills saw particularly the liver here hence its old name of the Heptica, one of this lines implications is that these people usually have “gut feelings” as this too can enhance the intuition, generally this is examined for particulars on the diet and digestion.

(5) Heavily joined life and head, this shows caution and sensitivity, in Tibetan palmistry this is the mark of the tortoise, who must take things at his own pace, this marking is often seen with those who think a lot about life, hence the joining.

(6) This small line under the first or Jupiter finger, is said to show the occult student, some one with an innate sense of sympathy for others, its called the ring of Solomon, as Solomon was supposed to be a wise student of the sciences.

This hand shows the first of Jupiter finger to stand higher in the hand which sloped down to the small or Mercury finger and the first or Jupiter finger being larger than the third, shows a leader, some fated to be in charge or a position of authority, they have the confidence to take what they do to the masses, and are very able to ignore entrenched skeptics and other disturbed personalities, but with a low set small finger into the hand, this can show an afflicted Mercury, so they hold back in communications a lot, these people tend to ” bottle up ” their feelings some what.

Alex Fulford says she has all four of the “clairs ” Clairvoyance or clear seeing, Clairaudience or clear hearing and Clairsentience which is really clear feeling or sensing, and also clear smelling and tasting.

I used palmistry for many years in counseling while working in the Graywood natural healing clinic, and it can be a wonderful tool.

Remember both hands should always be read together for accuracy, and if you read for others, be gentle remember the healers motto, ” do no harm “

Earthquakes, Infrasound and the Paranormal

~Written By Alison Oborn~

“Was that a train going by?” The gentleman from the tour looked at me in surprise.

“Erm
No!” I found myself replying from the open doorway of one of the cells, where I had involuntarily just placed myself.

The main tour had left and having missed out on listening to our EVP samples due to assisting my back-up elsewhere, I had taken a couple back to the New Building so they could catch up on what the others had been allowed to listen to. As we stood in this T-shaped cell block from the 1800s, discussing the paranormal, we fell silent as we strained to listen
‘what was that faint rumble coming from the other side of the building?’ The rumble rapidly grew in intensity. Looking up we braced ourselves as a sound similar to that of a freight train charging across the whole second floor of the building caused the old cell doors to groan and move in their frames before finally all was silent once more.

“Earthquake?” I suggested, although it hadn’t gone amiss that we had felt nothing through our feet or heard any of the noise flowing through the lower floor. Whatever it was, we were pretty excited though.

Fifteen minutes later we were bidding our final guests farewell and I quickly pulled out my phone to text Spilios, our team member and simply typed “O.M.G!”.

“What the Earthquake?” was the reply seconds later. Puzzle solved
nothing odd or paranormal about the event after all
or was there? Feeling a little deflated I tapped back “No, the activity that happened BEFORE this!”

For a while now I have been meaning to write an article on a certain topic and this was now the perfect inspiration to finally make that start. Does seismic activity have any affect at all on the paranormal or our perceptions of what is paranormal?

How I came to be standing in the most ‘active’ building in the Adelaide Gaol at the very moment that Adelaide experienced its first sizeable Earthquake in 20 years, was by pure chance but one I felt grateful for. How many investigators have had the opportunity to be in a ‘haunted’ location at the time of seismic build-up? How many have also had 20 guinea pigs to monitor in the form of a public ghost tour at the same time? No this was certainly my lucky night in some respects but not in others. The drawback was that because I was officially conducting a tour and not an investigation
we had no equipment running at the time! So the following can only be put forward as observation nothing more. After, I will look at a couple of theories.

It had been a strange night in the Gaol even before the tour arrived. There was an air of unease that I never let get to me too often in there, but I put it to one side and continued to prepare for the tour. Debbie, my back-up for the night came with me to check that all cell lights were off and the Hanging Tower door was shut, though not locked. Our route took us into the Remand Centre, a two part block with a secluded exercise yard off to one side. It also happens to be possibly the second most ‘active’ building in the Gaol. As Debbie walked down one side of the well lit museum section to shut the door leading out into the yard, I took a step into the gloom of the actual 2 storey cellblock. It was then I abruptly came to a halt, for I heard footsteps issuing from down the other end. Not clear steps but ones with a shuffling nature to them. Backing up a little I forgot about the step that lay behind me and ended up assuming a much different view of the block from my back with my legs kicking wildly into the air
much to the mirth of Debbie I might add. But I could still see down the block and there was no further movement. I picked myself up and we walked in to make sure there was nobody hiding. We walked along the bottom floor, searching the darkened cells, our torchlight dancing off walls and under beds as we strolled through. Nothing! It should be noted that I had not been startled by the thought that the footsteps were a ‘ghost’ but that maybe we had an intruder in the Gaol, which we have had several times before. As we could now hear cars arriving, we decided we should move back to the shop.

As I went to let a car through the gates, it stopped and the driver wound it’s window down “Hello Alison, do your remember us?”

“Not in the dark!” I said apologetically peering at the silhouettes that sat in their car.

They reminded me that they were a couple I had met on a previous tour and who I had talked to a couple of times on the phone. With this in mind, just before I started the tour I asked if the gentleman would be happy to go with Debbie and check the Remand Centre for an intruder once and for all. I was to remain behind and start the tour.

Interestingly the tour seemed edgy that night. They too seemed to be picking up on the atmosphere which was decidedly unpleasant and more menacing then usual. My tours are usually designed for fun
after all I can’t promise them a ghost, but I can ensure they go away feeling like they had a great night. For this reason it was unusual for a tour to be getting SO edgy. Their unease only grew as Debbie and the couple returned. It was obvious something had happened and now the tour wanted to know everything
after all, this was happening live folks!

They told how they had re-entered the remand centre and walked down both sides of the museum, passing both doors to the yard as they went. On entering the Remand Cellblock
footsteps had been heard. Again these were described as shuffling steps only this time they were coming from the floor above. Checking the gate to the stairs was still locked, they knew if there was an intruder there was no escape for him. Carefully they unlocked the gate Debbie climbed the stairs, the others waiting patiently in case. Each cell was checked but there was no intruder and nowhere for him to hide. Finally, giving up on the search they headed back to rejoin the tour. It was as they were walking back through the museum that Debbie’s jaw dropped in surprise. A door stood wide open out to the secluded yard
a door that hadn’t been used in years and that had been bolted shut moments earlier. What mystified her even more was the fact that to unbolt this door and shove it open, a lot of noise had to be produced. Their time in the cellblock had been one of silence!

The tour nervously bunched closer together, and even though the yards were well lit, a couple of people were clearly on the verge of panic. I have to admit that I too was fighting a feeling of dread, a feeling that had long become a stranger to me for many years now.
But why did this night have a completely different atmosphere? Why were people feeling unusually fearful and uneasy, including myself. Why were people reporting having seen things and felt things as they were walking through, including one lady who had her ear whistled into?

It was after we waved goodbye to the tour and the four of us returned to the New Building, the earthquake struck!

Could this have been the cause of the differences in the Gaol this night? So, this now leads me into discussing theories.

There has long been told stories of the seemingly psychic abilities of animals to know in advance when danger is pending, such as earthquakes, tsunamis etc. Dogs howl, horses become agitated and all manner of animals have been witnessed to leave an area before a disaster strikes. Elephants in Indonesia were reported to have headed to higher ground just before the tsunami struck that Boxing Day. I have even observed my own horses suddenly become agitated and leave an area of their paddock moments before a lightning strike hits the area where they had just been standing. But is this really evidence of psychic abilities in animals?

It is now known that storms, tsunamis and especially earthquakes are accompanied by something that genuinely is not paranormal but a more natural product of the event
low frequency sound waves, more commonly termed as infra-sound. But what has this to do with psychic animals and paranormal activity and earthquakes?

WHAT IS INFRASOUND?

Sound travels in a wave that is an oscillation of pressure or vibration. These are measured in cycles per second. The cycles for infrasound is below the human range of hearing which is 20Hz to 2,000Hz. So on this basis 1Hz = 1 second. Infrasound waves can be powerful waves that hug the ground and travel for long distances, passing through solid objects as they go. In fact it is known that Elephants, whales and even alligators can communicate over long distances by producing infrasound rumbles. Elephants have been witnessed suddenly freezing and laying their trunks on the ground as if intently concentrating on something that we are unable to see or hear. What has just been discovered is that other animals such as Giraffes produce infrasound to communicate also.

CAUSES OF INFRASOUND

There are many causes of infrasound both natural and man-made. Seismic activity such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions will produce infrasound waves. Thunderstorms, waterfalls and surf crashing onto the beach or rocks will also produce these same sounds.

For man-made causes we only have to look at some of our engines or machines (especially diesel), fireworks and other artificial explosions. One of the signs that a rocket launch or nuclear explosion has taken place is the tell-tale infrasound wave that is released with the explosion. Monitoring stations around the world assist groups in seeing when illegal weapon testing is underway through measuring these infrasounds.

But how does all this relate to the paranormal and in particular to the story of the earthquake experience. Well for this we have to look at the effect that infrasound appears to have on our minds and body.

INFRASOUND EFFECTS

It has been found in various experiments that infrasound may induce certain sensations in us. Psychophysical effects on people subjected to this include changes in cardio-vascular function, irritability, anxiety, nausea, headaches and the feeling of being watched, amongst other symptoms, many of them very similar to the effects felt in a ‘haunting’ scenario. Some researchers even believe that images can be induced and seen by the vibrations on the cells of the eyeball itself.

Infrasound and it’s link to paranormal experiences, was first realised by Vic Tandy who was a Coventry University Lecturer. People had been reporting strange feelings in the lab that he was working in. Cleaning staff had also reported seeing a shadowy figure and Vic Tandy experienced a similar sighting himself.

It was by accident however that he fell upon the explanation of it being caused by infrasound. He had brought in a fencing foil for repair and it had started to suddenly vibrate whilst being held in the vice. This gave him the clue and with further research he tracked down that a new fan had been installed into the lab and was producing a standing wave. Once the problem was fixed the ‘ghost’ mysteriously vanished too.

But Vic Tandy didn’t stop there. Opposite the University was the Visitor Information Centre that contained a 14th Century cellar. People had been experiencing strange things in the cellar, much like what was experienced in his lab. Upon further investigation it was found that this too contained a standing wave of infrasound.

Since this time other experiments have been done including one done by Richard Wiseman and Richard Lord. They took 750 people and staged a concert for them. During several pieces of the music, infrasound was piped into the room. Afterwards these people were questioned on how this music made them feel. 22% described feelings of fear during these particular pieces.

Without a doubt infrasound does have an affect on the human body. In fact sound weapons are now being experimented with and used for this reason.

Another interesting finding is that some people appear to be hypersensitive to infrasound. It would seem these people react more strongly to it then others. Could this explain why in a room of people, only a few will experience the feeling of fear or see shadowy figures, whilst others see and feel nothing? The Gaol tours would be a good example of this.

So in conclusion to this theory, was the earth, building up to the earthquake that night, producing low infrasounds? Without a doubt it would have been. Were the people on the tour feeling these waves? I know I was experiencing a lot of these symptoms myself that are reported in conjunction with infrasound.

This brings up the question of whether there is something at the Gaol, other then ghosts that could be producing these feelings and fleeting images. I do get people feeling nauseous and sick on some tours… yet another symptom of infrasound. Sadly unless we can get equipment into the Gaol and other sites that can measure this, we may never know for sure.

Of course like most theories, not everything neatly fits into it. It would not explain locked doors opening without a sound or the clear footsteps heard moving around. Could it also be that the energy produced from an earthquake building up also helps the ‘paranormal’ phenomena to manifest?

I will leave that one up to the reader to decide.

Responsibilities of Ghost Hunters to Property Owners

~Written By Bobby Elgee~

Increasingly I have become concerned as to ghost hunters responsibilities to property owners. On a side note, I consider my group a team of paranormal investigators and not simply ghost hunters, though I do tend to use the terms interchangeably.

The specifics I’m alluding to is our level of responsibility to property owners in letting them know of possible health hazards and structural problems that may exist. We have team members that are professionals in regards to heating, plumbing, and electrical systems as well as are well-versed in construction methods. Of course these team members also have become knowledgeable–through various encounters in their jobs–of the dangers of chemicals, mold, and other potentially hazardous substances/situations.

Just as I’m comfortable in addressing some of the potential psychological and perhaps medical implications of what appears to be a possible haunting–primarily by providing information and referral to qualified mental health and medical practitioners–these team members are extremely competent in providing information and referral regarding these physical/property-based issue.

If we are conducting an investigation in a private residence owned by the client, we will share each and every possible hazardous/problematic situation we encounter. Many of these circumstances may relate to the reported activity in the home. The obvious example are problems with unshielded electrical wiring that may contribute to feelings of uneasiness and nausea–and possibly visual hallucinations–to those that are sensitive to such things. High levels of carbon monoxide and mold are other circumstances that can contribute to symptoms that the home owner may be attributing to paranormal activity. We feel it is our duty to share this with our clients. Even if we see a potentially hazardous situation that is not related to a possible haunting, we do not hesitate to give clients free advice–related to our fields of expertise–in such situations. I would guess that most ghost hunting groups operate in the same manner.

However, when you are investigating a location where a renter is involved, this becomes much more problematic. I should note that we do not investigate locations without the property owners permission. We do receive a large number of requests from tenants to check out their apartment or house. Though obviously a tenant can entertain guests of their choice, we do feel a responsibility to obtain a landlords permission before beginning historical research and certainly before conducting an investigation. Consider how you would feel if you are/were a property owner, and a tenant of yours okayed a full-scale paranormal investigation of the location. Wouldn’t you want to know? In cases like this, we’ll share the results with the landlord as well as the tenant/client. In the vast majority of cases we’ve encountered the landlord has been very helpful and appreciative of the information we provided. We view this as an important part of being professional in our methods and tactics.

So, given the above, what does one do if when investigating a tenant’s residence and finds a significant problem related to the heating system? What if one finds a mold problem, that while may or may not be contributing to possible paranormal symptoms, obviously presents a health hazard to the tenant. I’m not talking about exposed electrical wiring which could be easily fixed at a low cost, I’m speaking to an extensive problem that to fix adequately, in the worst-case scenario could cost tens of thousands of dollars. Does one tell the tenant? Does one immediately share this with the landlord? Should one report the information to the local board of health, housing board, or rental association? These issues are problematic, touchy, and though it may seem like immediately sharing this information is “the right thing to do,” the solutions to these types of situations seem more complex than simply “doing the right thing.”

I do know one thing….When conducting an investigation of a rental residence where the landlord gave permission, they have given permission for a paranormal investigation, not a home inspection. The landlord hasn’t asked for a risk assessment related to their property in the areas of construction, evaluation of the heating, plumbing, and electrical systems and a mold inspection. I’m sure that any competent property owner would want to know immediately of any situation that puts their tenants–and thus themselves–at risk, but sharing with a tenant that the electrical system is outdated, then having them run to the landlord with this information and demanding that it be remedied is a pretty quick way to ensure that landlords avoid teams of paranormal investigators like the plague.

Perhaps we are being selfish in this regard. Through state landlord associations, cases of paranormal investigators causing problems for property owners would rapidly be shared throughout the area and definitely have an effect on the ability to procure property owner permissions that we require to investigation such locations.

As in a lot of situations, we must walk a fine line and remind ourselves as to the reason we were allowed on the property to begin with. On the other hand, as a human being, I feel the obligation to share any potentially dangerous situations that may exist that could affect the safety and health of the residents. We will specifically address any potential causes of paranormal symptoms associated with the situation, but we carefully chose our words in doing so.

Do others have experience and advice on such situations? My guess is that there is no easy answer.

The Influence of Paranormal Television

Dec30
by BeyonderBill on December 30, 2010 at 1:54 am

~Written By Bobby Elgee~

There is no denying the popularity of paranormal television shows. We’ve come a long way from the days of In Search Of. And though ghost stories, Bigfoot, aliens, and other high weirdness as always made for high ratings, now we are deluged with choices including Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Lab, A Haunting, Celebrity Ghost Stories, Destination Truth, and several others.

Some People say that Ghost Hunters–a television program on the Scy Fy network featuring members of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (T.A.P.S)–started this explosion in popularity, generating spin-off and copycat shows that feature teams of paranormal investigators visiting haunted locations. Though varying somewhat in structure and “methodology,” they generally follow the same format: a team of investigators–after having done some amazingly cursory historical research–interviews a few witnesses to said paranormal activity, then “investigates” the location using audio recorders, infrared cameras, sonar, and a host of other equipment. This specific format has been expanded from just hunting ghosts to include programs that also feature cryptozoology (Destination Truth) , ufology (UFO Hunters), in what others would lead us to believe is spiritual and psychic warfare (Paranormal State).

Other paranormal television shows follow different schemes including featuring reenactments of famous hauntings interspersed with interviews with the people that experienced them–A Haunting–as well as a program featuring famous people sharing their own encounters with the supernatural–Celebrity Ghost Stories.

Though paranormal television has a history that extends to a time before cable, there is no denying the relatively recent increase in the popularity of such fare. In fact, the interest in supernatural phenomena has probably never been greater since the Spiritualism craze of the mid 1800’s to the early 1900’s. There may be many sociocultural reasons why this interest has risen in recent years, but certainly paranormal television has a lot to do with it.

One could argue that the biggest influence of paranormal television has had is on the hobby of ghost hunting. Though I feel that paranormal television has contributed relatively little to the actual understanding of the reasons behind paranormal phenomena, literally thousands of teams of ghost hunters have sprung up across the country as a result. Many members of these groups will state that Ghost Hunters was their single biggest influence in the decision to form or join a team of ghost hunters and a vast majority mimic their methods. Before these shows, it was difficult to find a local team of paranormal investigators. Though such respected paranormal luminaries as John Zaffis and Troy Taylor have been around for years–well before the recent craze–now one can find multiple teams of ghost hunters in every region in the country.

Personally, I joined a ghost hunting team because of two reasons. First, I experienced some possibly paranormal activity. Second, I saw a story in a newspaper about a ghost hunting crew looking for members and joined Soul Seekers Paranormal Society. The individual who started the team I joined–albeit a ghost hunter for many years previous–specifically founded the team as a direct result of being exposed to Ghost Hunters.

Interestingly enough, paranormal television has had an even more direct impact on the group I’m currently a member of. Several people quit this team and started their own group in response to Ghost Hunters decision to film an episode at a specific location. Though the details are tedious and certainly not worth repeating here, it’s a simple fact that if you need a ghost hunter nowadays, you don’t have to look very hard and it’s obvious that just one of these television shows has had a huge influence on many people.

Considering the amount of people now involved in this hobby, and the amount of time and money spent by these teams on equipment, travel to haunted locations, and attendance at ghost tours, conferences, and workshops, it is readily apparent that paranormal television has certainly generated a significant economic impact. Consider the number of hotels that now find that advertising their haunted status is good for business, the formerly unused and derelict properties that are now open for ghost tours, and the haunted taverns where you can have a drink with a ghost. It’s pretty simple, ghosts are good for business.

There are several interesting developments that I’ve experienced first-hand–as a paranormal investigator–that I feel are a result of paranormal television. One of these developments appeared to be an intense interest, now followed by an increasing wariness of business owners to get involved with ghost hunting teams.

Perhaps this reluctance has to do with the recent recession–business owners are becoming increasingly leery of potential negative impacts. I suspect that this wariness is also due to the amount of requests for investigations these locations receive from the large number of amateur ghost hunting teams in existence. I feel that these same dynamics may also apply to home owners.

Yet another reason that I perceive it appears to be increasingly difficult to procure investigations is that these home and business owners see these television shows and form a misconception about what a paranormal investigation really is, and thus are hesitant to contact a team based on the “stereotypes” seen on television.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, and this is simply an inaccurate perception. The reasons for my perception that it is increasingly difficult to secure an investigation–specifically of businesses–could be do to a variety of reasons NOT related to paranormal television, however I do suspect that paranormal television has influenced the majority of possibility haunted businesses owners–and private homeowners–in one way or the other.

This article could go on to discuss paranormal television’s influence on ghost hunting tactics, marketing of paranormal groups, movies, the Internet, and other media, however we’ll leave it at that for now, and declare this article “under construction.”

I am more interested in what you–the reader–feels about this subject. I sincerely appreciate all input and am looking forward to reading your insightful opinions on this interesting subject.

Shadow People

  ~Written by Jason Searle~

Over the last decade, more and more paranormal eyewitness reports are being received with regard to dark, tall and humanoid shadows. They are fast-moving and have no obvious source. What are these entities? Ghosts…and More share what they think of these entities.

Picture this, you are sat alone in your room watching most recent episode of Eastenders, when from the corner of your left eye you see a dash of movement. You turn your head in that direction and you see nothing. You get back to watching TV and you notice it again. You quickly glance in that direction again and see a very dark shadow of a person move across the wall and vanish. You question yourself as to what you have just seen.

Whilst many of us would just pass this off as a figment of our imagination, returning to Eastenders, some of us may start to think that what we have just seen was real. When you are on your own, you can become easily spooked so consciously passing it off as your eyes playing tricks would help to calm us. But several reports have made their way onto the Internet, which states that multiple witnesses have come across the same fleeting shadow that does not seem to have a natural explanation. Possibly what we have seen was real! These possibly real entities are referred to as shadow people.

Reports of Shadow people used to be very rare. As stated earlier over the last decade the reports have increased dramatically. This may be down to the rise of the Internet giving way to an easier way to share information in addition to the rise of interest in the paranormal field, but it could also mean there are many more sightings now than in the past.

Those in the paranormal field may have come across the “corner of the eye” phenomena. This weird occurrence happens quite frequently on paranormal investigations. It is the sensation that you think you saw something move by you, as you sense movement in your peripheral vision. Initially shadow people were explained away by this phenomenon. However recent reports have shown that Shadow people are now appearing in people’s central vision, giving sceptics (as well as us investigators) more to think about when trying to explain away these terrifying creatures.

Shadow

Although this is not a real picture of a shadow person (as they do like to elude the camera), this looks almost identical to what the author saw in his room one evening.  Note the red eyes and the menacing presence.

So what can they be? Let’s look at some of the logical explanations before we look at some of the paranormal explanations.

The imagination. We humans are very active imaginations so we cannot rule this out! I would think that many experiences with Shadow people may occur when the person witnessing them is scared. It could be down to just watching a horror movie or even just not liking the fact of being alone in a building or room.

Natural shadow movements. The shadow that is seen could just be the shadow of the tree moving about in front of the street lights. Even the light source could be moving – the amount of times the Ghosts…and More team have been fooled by a set of car headlights passing by on the road outside a well into the double figures. Combine this reason with the one above and you’re set to give yourself a fright!

Low-frequency motors. The human eye is constantly moving (up to about 20 times a second) and low-frequency sounds created by low-frequency motors could cause the eyes to resonate, increasing the distance the eye moves. This subtle change in the eye movement could be perceived as something moving in a peripheral of your vision.

The above explanations could probably explain away 99% of the “corner of the eye” phenomena, but do not seem to be able to explain away the humanoid shadow shapes that appear in the central vision. Nor would it explain away any idea that some shadow people reports include the figures having glowing red eyes (unless of course the witness has an extremely overactive imagination!)

We can now look at some of the more paranormal explanations for the existence of shadow people. As we do not know what they are for sure this is all just speculative theory and do not represent the full view or views of the Ghosts…and More team.

Ghosts. Could the shadow people be a type of ghost? Quite possibly, although ghosts tend to have more distinguishable features within their apparitions and can usually be seen (it seems all that is!) in your central vision. Shadow people, as explained, generally are just silhouettes. Also, ghosts tend to appear in a milky white mist, whereas the shadow people are just dark shadows.

Demons. The idea that shadow people could be demons is quite popular. This is because when a shadow person is thought to have been seen, there is a sense of malevolence. The fact that they are dark also leads to the idea that it is a dark and evil presence. Similarly, many reports suggest that the shadow people have glowing red eyes that also give rise to a malevolent demonic spirit.

Aliens. It may sound a bit surprising that a shadow person could indeed be an alien. Many alien encounters have reported that the alien can appear and disappear in the blink of an eye, move through solid walls and doors and can appear very elusive.

Interdimensional beings. If science had to pick one of the more unusual explanations for shadow people, this is the one it is most likely to pick. Science currently supports the idea that there are many dimensions outside of the three that we live in. It is therefore logical to believe that otherworldly beings could inhabit these other dimensions. Maybe we share one of our dimensions with those from another dimension hence why we may see a fleeting glimpse of a moving shadow. Not wishing to scare people, but perhaps they have a way of passing into our dimension and exploring it to further their scientific knowledge about the universe they inhabit.

Time Travellers. In the future it could be possible to harness the space-time continuum and find a way to travel back in time. It may seem rather Doctor Who, but I’m sure the science could be out there somewhere. The popular idea of not going back and seeing or speaking to yourself maybe the reason why we see a dark shadow – it could be us getting caught near ourselves and finding a way to evade ourselves. I think I may stop this paragraph before we get ourselves too confused!

There could be many more explanations to the shadow people entities, but we could be here all day trying to go through them all and still not find the right answer. Who knows the shadow people could be a species of their own, therefore ending the debate. As the creatures tend to be so elusive in coming forward and the sheer fact that they terrify pretty much anybody that encounters one, studying them is a real nightmare (quite literally!) and we may never find the answer to this paranormal subject.

If you have experienced one, please feel free to get in touch with us via our contact page. Maybe you have an idea on what they are or what their purpose is. Either way, shadow people are a fascinating subject within the paranormal field and something terrifying to encounter when you’re on your own! As always we shall let you make your own mind up on what these things could be.
